Hindmarsh Valley National Park

A 423-hectare national park proclaimed in 2021, protecting habitat for the southern brown bandicoot and western pygmy possum - one of the Fleurieu's newest parks.

A new national park

Hindmarsh Valley National Park was officially proclaimed in late 2021, protecting 423 hectares of remnant bushland in the high-rainfall hills above Victor Harbor. The park was created to safeguard habitat for several threatened species including the southern brown bandicoot and the western pygmy possum.

Future use

The park is in the early stages of public access development - walking trails and mountain biking trails are planned but not yet in place. For now, the park is best appreciated as a quiet bushland addition to the Fleurieu's protected estate. Check Parks SA for current access conditions before visiting.
