Myponga Beach

A quiet, secluded beach below Myponga Reservoir reached via a steep dirt road - one of the truly off-the-beaten-track beaches on the Fleurieu west coast.

A real off-grid beach

Myponga Beach sits at the end of a steep, narrow dirt road that drops down from the highway near Myponga town to a small cove on the Gulf St Vincent. It is one of the most genuinely off-the-beaten-track beaches on the Fleurieu - the access road puts off most casual visitors, which means the beach is almost always empty.

What it's like

A crescent of sand at the foot of cliffs, with a small creek mouth and rocky reefs at either end. Swimming on calm days, fishing off the rocks, and just walking. No facilities at all.

Practical

The access road is unsealed and steep - 2WD usually OK in dry weather but not after rain. Bring everything you need.
