Middleton
Surf beach village between Port Elliot and Goolwa
Small beachside village between Port Elliot and Goolwa on the Encounter Coast, with one of the Fleurieu's most consistent surf breaks and a famous pub.
A South Coast surf village
Middleton is a small coastal town on the eastern end of the Fleurieu Peninsula, sitting between Port Elliot and Goolwa on the Encounter Coast. It is the only town on the stretch facing directly out to the Southern Ocean, and its long sandy beach is one of the Fleurieu's most reliable surf breaks - popular with surfers, learners, and Adelaide weekenders.
What to do
- Middleton Beach - a wide sandy beach suitable for surfing, bodyboarding and summer swimming
- Middleton Point - a gentler reef break ideal for learner surfers
- The Middleton Tavern - the local pub, popular after a day in the water
- Encounter Bikeway - the sealed path runs through Middleton, linking Victor Harbor and Goolwa
Winter whales
Southern right whales migrate through these waters between May and October - the Middleton beach and clifftops are a great vantage point.
